This procedure aims to preserve a natural appearance while maintaining oncological safety.
Skin cancers generally develop due to causes such as prolonged sun exposure, genetic predisposition, or fair skin type. The most common types are basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and malignant melanoma. Each has a different level of aggressiveness and requires different surgical margins.
Surgical planning is based on the tumor's type, size, and location. In some cases, particularly in aesthetically important areas such as the face, reconstruction is performed using microsurgery or tissue transfer (flap) techniques. This preserves both functional integrity and aesthetic appearance.
Skin cancer surgery is generally performed under local anesthesia. For small lesions, the patient is discharged the same day; for more advanced cases, a short period of rest is recommended. In the postoperative period, protecting the incision line, avoiding sun exposure, and attending regular follow-up checkups are extremely important.
