Genital whitening is an aesthetic procedure that lightens the darker skin tone in the genital area. Darkening in the genital area can occur due to hormonal changes, childbirth, aging, hair removal (epilation), or genetic factors. This can negatively affect both the aesthetic appearance and the person's self-confidence. Genital whitening lightens the area's tone, resulting in a more even, brighter, and youthful appearance.
The procedure is generally performed using laser or chemical peeling methods. Laser genital whitening targets melanin pigment to regulate color balance and lightens the skin tone over several sessions. Chemical whitening, on the other hand, corrects uneven skin tone using specially formulated solutions.
The procedure takes an average of 15–30 minutes and generally does not require anesthesia. The patient can return to normal daily life immediately after the procedure. Genital whitening is not a permanent procedure; depending on skin type, renewal is recommended every 1–2 years.
